An immortal woman dreams of murder and discovers she is more bonded to death than she ever imagined. On a remote island off the northern coast of 17thC Scotland, a pregnant woman, accused of witchcraft, awaits her execution by fire. Using fleeting remnants of her innate powers, she escapes to a centuries-old sanctuary where she gives birth and secures safety for her infant daughter. The child, called Azraella, is spirited away by a mystic teacher. She is taught worldly knowledge and an awareness of her kind. But the day comes when Azraella is abandoned—to find her own way, to discover her own supernatural powers, and to learn the origin of her immortality. Centuries later, she is in New York City, using the name Ella Du’Nange. She creates a life for herself masquerading as a mortal woman among the elite of the city, while always in search of information that will uncover her true identity. Unwittingly, she becomes entangled in a series of murders that take place in the alleyways of Manhattan. Fleeing suspicion, Ella relocates to the quiet of rural Pennsylvania, only to be haunted by sinister dreams of premonition that have followed her like dark specters from the streets of New York. The murders continue, and this time, she is a witness...and perhaps more. Equal parts thriller and mysticism, romance and betrayal, The Dog Bones travels from one of the darkest periods of Scotland’s history to present day New York and the outlying beauty of rural Pennsylvania, rich in its own tales of the supernatural. It is a story as old as creation, itself—the battle between good and evil.
